Poppy Ackroyd Interview

Two years ago, our CD of the Month was Poppy Ackroyd’s Resolve , a great album of neo-classical explorations. Well, that album finally got an official release in the United States from Bjork’s One Little Indian label and that gave us an opportunity to talk to Ackroyd. She started out as a classical pianist but things changed.

Poppy Ackroyd: I’m classically trained, but I think when I was about 14, I became a bit of an indie kid, listened to a lot of punk. And yeah, just anything that wasn’t classically actually,

John Diliberto talks to her about her non-classical approach to a neo-classical sound.
