On a Slow Flow Echoes, new music by Bodhiheart and Chieli Minucci, two artists with roots in 1980s fusion. Chilei Minucci is the founder and guitarist for the long-lived band, Special EFX, one of the signature artists of the old GRP label. But he has a new album of solo, multi-tracked guitar that’s quite different. Bodhiheart consists of members of Krishna Das’s band, cellist Noah Hoffeld and pianist Wells Hanley. They’re joined by Mark Egan who came to renown as an original member of the Pat Metheny group.

Agnes Obel - The Meaning Of Flowers - CDoM

Singer Agnes Obel returns with her first album in six years, The Meaning of Flowers. It’s a haunting meditation on motherhood and fame. It’s also the Echoes CD of the Month for October. The Danish singer, musician and composer is someone who is close to our hearts. I think Echoes gave Obel her first national exposure in 2010, when she released her debut album, Philharmonics. We interviewed her, and she played live on the show. That album was a CD of the Month, as were Citizen of Glass in 2016 and Myopia in 2020. How her second album, Aventine, missed being a CD of the Month is a mystery to me. Six years after Myopia, she brings us The Meaning of Flowers.
