Monday, Feb 16, 2026 – Program 2607A
There are many progressive rock bands that still stalk the earth. Yes, King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator. But not Gentle Giant. They made all their records during Prog Rocks glory years in the 1970s and then called it quits. While their legacy continues on as one of the most innovative and expansive bands in the genre, their co-founding member and lead singer, Derek Shulman went from the stage to the record executive office working for Polygram, Atco and Roadrunner records and signing acts like Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Dream Theater and Pantera. His journey is chronicled in his new autobiography, Giant Steps: My Improbable Journey from Stage Lights to Executive Heights. John Diliberto takes that journey with Derek Shulman on Echoes from PRX.

We go on a Quest for the Runestone on the next Echoes. That is the title of David Arkenstone‘s album returning to his fantasy-laden orchestral sound with a lot of Celtic touches. We’ll hear David Arkenstone’s Quest for the Runestone and more on Echoes from PRX.

On the next Echoes music from the psychedelically-inclined artist, Washed Out. That’s Ernest Weatherly Greene Jr, and his album is Notes from a Quiet Life. We’ll also hear pastoral psychedelic sounds from Magic Fig, new music by Bluetech and an ecstatic singer out of Kazakhstan recording as Men Seni Suyemin. That means “I love you” in Kazakh. Echoes loves you too.

On a Slow Flow Echoes, music by Nashville guitar slinger Brian Fechino. He doesn’t do country on his new EP A Safe Place. He creates atmospheric instrumentals with a pastoral feel, mixing sounds of nature, soothing rhythms, lush pads and Brian’s own ambient guitar landscapes. John Diliberto always has a safe place for you to free your mind on a Slow Flow Echoes
