KARYYN: The Echoes Interview

KARYYN

Today we’ve got an extraordinary artist for you, KÁRYYN. She is an electronic singer-songwriter of Armenian descent who came up through the experimental world studying with electronic and Deep Listening composer Pauline Oliveros.  She has released her second album, Physics Universal Love Language or PULL. Her music is centered around her voice.

KÁRYYN: My voice is my first instrument and I’m not trained as a singer so it’s not about singing licks, it’s not about that, you know, it’s not traditionally what would sound beautiful. I use my voice to shape whatever I’m trying to sing, so whatever I’m trying to express and that is what the voice is for.

Her voice goes many places when John Diliberto talks to KÁRYYN on Echoes from PRX.
