Kinobe's "Falling Star" debuts on a Slow Flow Echoes.

On a Slow Flow Echoes, we premiere the new single from Kinobe, “Falling Star.” It’s from their forthcoming album, Over the Horizon. Kinobe was formed in West London in 1998 by Julius Waters and Mark “Blackie” Blackburn and came to initial prominence with their single “Slip into Something More Comfortable” where they sampled Engelbert Humperdinck’s “From Here to Eternity.” They were part of the turn-of-the- century chilled electronica boom.  They’ve gone through several personnel changes with multi-instrumentalist Waters being the only constant.   Their new single “Falling Star” takes on a downtempo lounge sound redolent of early Air, with a sultry rhythm and sweeping, cinematic strings to their chillout mood. In the press release, Waters describes it thusly:

“When I wrote this song I was imagining what might be playing on the jukebox while J.J. Cale, John Barry, and Percy Faith play poker in the bar of a formerly-splendid-but-now-run-down hotel somewhere down a forgotten desert highway as the colours of the sunset revive its faded glory.”

I like that although I hear it more as David Lynch, Angelo Badalamenti and Martin Denny, sitting at a beach bar at sunset, surrounded by beautiful sultry women and suspicious looking men as the colors turn psychedelic.

We are giving “Falling Star” its radio debut on Echoes tonight July 13, 2023. It is the perfect mood for a Slow Flow Echoes.  There will also be a video going up.
