The English duo Anima is a band steeped in shamanic mysticism, psychedelic plants and electronic music. The duo of Ali Calderwood and Daniela Broder live on a farm off the grid in Scotland, making electronic music powered by solar cells. They’ve lived in the jungles of Indian tribes in the Amazon and partaken in their rituals which they turn into some of the most detailed electronic landscapes.

Steven Halpern released his first album of electric piano modalities, Spectrum Suite, in 1975. That makes 2015 his 40th anniversary as a recording artist. We talk to Halpern about the evolution of his music from the “anti-frantic alternative” to his concepts of sound healing.

Árstíðir is another band out of Iceland, but this one has a more organic and acoustic sound with routes in the harmonies of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. They come in to Echoes to perform their music live.
Hans Christian’s Nanda Devi, the CD of the Month, leads the Echoes Top 25 for September. He’s followed closely by Silencio, Arstidir, and Briana Marela, all of whom played live on Echoes this month.
Slow Meadow is the performance name of Matt Kidd who started out as a guitarist playing in church and Christian music bands before venturing out on his own ambient journey.
