New Music from AVAWAVES
On the next Echoes, new music by AvaWaves, the electric chamber music duo of violinist Anna Phoebe and keyboardist Aisling Brouwer. They completely blew us away in 2019 with their debut album, Waves. Each musician has been around for a while. Aisling Brouwer is a film and commercial composer who has done work for Christian Dior among others. Anna Phoebe has been a little more visible, performing with Jethro Tull, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Roxy Music. She also has a few solo albums in an orchestral progressive rock vein with fiery violin playing. Both musicians come from classical backgrounds, but they grew up on electronic dance music. We played something from Waves a while back and wondered on air where they were. A listener said they had a new album. Not only that, they had released a second album in 2021 that went right under the radar. But we tracked them all down and we’re catching up. Waves didn’t have the dance beats, but Heartbeat leans into that a little more. John Diliberto has the beats on the next Echoes from PRX.
