Ravi Shankar

It’s a journey with an Icon when we celebrate the 105th Birthday of Indian sitar master, Ravi Shankar. His music spanned from classical Indian ragas to films to world fusion. We’ll hear an interview with the legendary sitarist talking about an ancient sound and spirit that helped transform modern music. Shankar died in 2012, but we remember him today on Echoes from PRX.

Peter Gregson

Peter Gregson is a classically-trained cellist.  He’s recorded with orchestras as well as composers Max Richter and the late-Jóhann Jóhannsson.  We talked to him about the ambient chamber music on his 2021 recording Patina, which mixed synthesizers and electronic processing, and his cello run through a vocoder.  He has a eponymous recording.  Join us when we talk with Peter Gregson on Echoes.
