Hollan Holmes Interview

Hollan Holmes

Texas-based artist Hollan Holmes paints southern landscapes and rusty artifacts by day, but he heads into electronic space at night, composing music like his CD of the Month, Emerald Waters. John Diliberto talks to Hollan Holmes about his magical worlds on Echoes.

Women in Wires

Women in Wires. We’re celebrating International Woman’s Day by looking at women who have plugged in. These artists have bypassed convention and created their own sonic landscapes for their music. This was a pretty hard show to do 30 or so years ago, but now the world is full of creative women electronic artists, although not nearly as many as their probably should be. They’ve been getting a little more attention since the commentary, Sisters with Transistors came out last year. We’ll take a run through these musicians from Delia Derbyshire and Wendy Carlos to Laurie Anderson, Sharon Van Etten and Grimes. Women in Wires, we plug them in on Echoes.
