Moby's Motherless Child Spiritual
Moby has apparently gotten his angst out his system with the Void Pacific Choir and is making a return to his more contemplative songs on a forthcoming album, Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt. He’s released the first single, a pretty free adaptation of the spiritual, “Sometimes I Feel Like Motherless Child.” It features singer Raquel Rodriguez. Moby also sings, but I’m wondering where he picked up his British accent on the rap section. Overall, a beautiful rendering of a song that has been sung by some greats like Mahalia Jackson and Odetta.
