Imagine Lanterna, driving across the desert in a 57 ‘Chevy, with Leonard Cohen and Lucinda Williams in the backseat and Mazzy Star blasting on the radio. That gives you some of the sound of OnDeadWaves, a duo of Polly Scattergood and James Chapman. It’s an album full of bleary-eyed reflections over sun stroked, reverb-drenched guitars. It’s music for a dive bar serving lysergic gin cocktails, but it’s also as beautiful as a sunset.
