World Fusion & Chamber Pop in Echoes Top 25

Coyote Jump Leads Echoes Top 25 for May

The Echoes Top 25 for May is an interesting mix of old and new.   A lot of old favorites like  Thomas Newman, Jef Stott, Clara Ponty, David Michael, Niyaz,  and Carl Weingarten return.  And world fusion seems to have made a return led by Coyote Jump’s CD of the Month, Waking from the Roots.

But they are joined by the exquisite and emotionally tuned duets between Senegalese kora player Ablaye Cissoko and German trumpeter Volker Goetze, the pastoral Indian moods of The Rain Garden, the Persian fusion of Niyaz and the eastern-turned electronica of Jef Stott.  You might recall Jef from his earlier bands, Stellamara and Lumin.

Chamber Pop is becoming more important on Echoes  and you can hear great examples here from Frankie Rose, Blue Foundation & Low Roar.
