It’s a plugged in Echoes Top 25 for September.
Eight of the Top 10 are electronic albums or electronically enhanced like Matthew Schoening’s Elements and Zoe Keating’s Into the Trees, both looping cello CDs by the way.
But acoustic music still has an impact, with Portico Quartet.. oops! They are mostly acoustic, but they use electronic effects and looping as well. But then there’s Goldmund’s album of subtle, ambient acoustic piano, but oops again! He uses electronic ambient effects and the occasional synthesizer pad. Okay, seriously, there are some lovely acoustic albums this month too from Ronn McFarlane and the super trio of Phillip Aaberg, Eugene Friesen and Tracy Silverman.
But topping the list is a purely electronic CD, David Helpling & Jon Jenkins’ The Crossing, our September CD of the Month. Look for #5, Todd Boston’s Alive, to top the list for October since it’s that month’s CD of the Month Club selection.
