From Monk Meditations to Windham Hill Founders and Trance on Today's Echoes.
On the next Echoes, Thelonius Monk goes serene with Jon Batiste. Batiste is a pretty wild musician. He came to renown as the pianist and bandleader on the late and very lamented Tonight Show with Steven Colbert. Then he went off in 20 directions, recording pure R&B records, jazz excursions and even new age. He’s got a suite of albums based around the music of jazz royalty, Thelonius Monk that isn’t what you might expect. It’s a solo piano work called Monk Meditations. We’ll also hear guitarist Will Ackerman and his new, meditative album, Home and we’ve got music by Liquid Bloom. That’s Amani Friend who is also one half of Desert Dwellers. He’s released a string of singles in 2026 and I’ve got one that’s a collaboration with Share the Light and Awamani. We have no idea who they are, but it’s a great slice of Trance.
