Three Iterations of Tron- Wendy Carlos, Daft Punk, Nine Inch Nails.

Get your game controller ready when we buckle in for 43 years of TRON. The movie TRON starring Jeff Bridges, debuted in 1982 with a soundtrack by Wendy Carlos. At that time Carlos was still in her Switched-On Bach, synthesizing the classics mode, but she had done scores to A Clockwork Orange in 1971 and The Shining in 1980. TRON was only a modest success and it wasn’t until 2010 that they went back to it with TRON Legacy, this time with a score by French electronic dance darlings, Daft Punk. And now in 2025, the franchise returns with TRON:Ares. Tapped for the score is Nine Inch Nails. It’s actually Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who have scored over a dozen films under their own name, but used the Nine Inch Nails brand for this movie score. We’ll hear a suite of music from Wendy Carlos’s original 1982 TRON score, then head to 2010 for Daft Punk and TRON: Legacy and finally to the new score by Nine Inch Nails for TRON: Ares. John Diliberto is the Master Controller on Echoes from PRX.
