The Sound of Course on Echoes
On the Next Echoes, music from Course. It’s the name that Jessica Robbins records under. She’s a Canadian musician with a couple of albums of electronic pop to her name. But her new album, Hue Mirror, is something different. She writes about her medical journey of pain and tests and prescription drugs that finally took her to a diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis, an auto-immune disease in the spine and joints that can cause all kinds of pain throughout the body. Jess has created a song-cycle that explores her journey, but renders it in beautiful affirmative music. The title is a play on the drug, Humira, used to treat the disease. We’ll hear a couple of tracks along her journey.
