Mark Dwane's Aeons on Echoes
On the next Echoes we travel through Aeons by Mark Dwane. Dwane is the gifted guitarist and synth musician who usually composes dynamic and melodic works. But his latest album is a more contemplative release. This may be Mark’s final album. I contacted him last week and gave the pro forma “how are you doing?” in my email. I never expected his response. Mark has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and after a program of chemo therapy has now been given about six months to live. We’ve played Marks music since his 1988 debut, Monuments of Mars and have played all of his some 22 albums since then. We had Mark on the show once, should’ve been more. He had a CD of the Month in 2007 with his album, 2012, and he would’ve had a lot more but he went fully digital on his releases early on. I’ve always thought Mark was overlooked by the space, ambient and electronic music communities. So, during his Chemo run, he recorded a more contemplative album than usual, called Aeons . I have two tracks from it today. Appreciate this artist while we can. We’ll hear two tracks from it on Echoes from PRX.
