Opia from aeseaes: Echoes July CD of the Month
Echoes’ July CD of the Month is a gem of dream-pop from the husband and wife duo of Aeseaes. During the pandemic, a lot of musicians took to streaming live performances online. But aeseaes which is short for A Couple Streaming, ie ACS, was doing it every week for five years before that on the Twitch Platform. They performed cover tunes but more importantly, worked out their own original songs, pictures of dream-pop melancholy and soulfulness. Now they have a new album called Opia and it’s our CD of the Month for July. Aeseaes are Travis Chapman who plays many instruments but its primarily a bassist and his wife, singer and guitarist Allie Eissler. They created a sound that is serene on the surface, but has a lot of dark, even ominous undertones. You’ll hear the results of this beautiful release on Echoes with John Diliberto, from PRX.
