Olafur Arnalds, performing live on Echoes.
Back in 2011, Ólafur Arnalds and his ensemble came into the performance studio at WITF in Harrisburg, PA, to play live for Echoes. The group sculpted a landscape for piano, electronics and string quartet that was full of pensive moods and melodies, insinuating themselves in slow motion elegance. Ólafur and his ensemble played poetic music from the album he had just released at the time, “And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness.” Ólafur has played live on Echoes three times over the years, each performance unique and moving, but as his first appearance with us, this one holds a special place in Echoes history.
