Jeff Oster, Vin Downes and Tom Eaton: An Echoes Living Room Concert
In September of 2024, Jeff Oster, Vin Downes and Tom Eaton came to Echoes to play live. Jeff Oster is the noted trumpeter who has released several solo CDs, many of them Echoes CD of the Month picks. He also plays in the trio Brothers with Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton, and he is the “O” in FLOW with Fiona Joy Hawkins, Lawrence Blatt and Will Ackerman. Vin Downes is a disciple of Will Ackerman and was his guitar tech for many years. Tom Eaton is a master producer and engineer for numerous recordings you’ve heard on the show as well as a prolific creator of ambient electronic landscapes. The trio released their debut album, Seven Conversations earlier this year, a deep recording of ambient improvisation. It was the Echoes CD of the Month in May. Every time they play, it’s a different journey. The on-air version of this concert needed to be edited to fit into the broadcast clock, but this is the extended, full version, as played live in the studio.
