A Classic Concert with Air from 2004
Air has recently been touring in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Moon Safari, which inspired us to go back and give another listen to this live Echoes performance from 2004.The French duo called Air is both retro and “moderne,” chilled pop and ambient lounge. They created a splash in 1998 with their album, Moon Safari featuring the oft-heard instrumental “La Femme D’argent” and the Moog driven pop song, “Sexy Boy.” They’ve been spending all of 2024 touring that album playing it from beginning to end but with different arrangements. This was a different set-up than their previous tours with only 3 musicians and lots of backing tracks tracks. But as you can see in the picture here and hear in the music, back in 2004, when they released their CD, Talkie Walkie, it was all live with four musicians, no computers. At that time Air came to Echoes to play music from Talkie Walkie and a cue from the score to “The Virgin Suicides.”
