Remembering Mike Pinder
In the first hour of Echoes, we remember Mike Pinder, the keyboard player for The Moody Blues, who passed away on April 24, 2024. He was responsible for popularizing the sound of the Mellotron, using it to provide distinctive orchestral and choir sounds on hit songs like “Nights in White Satin” and “The Afternoon.” We’ll hear a suite of Moody Blues tunes tunes that feature Pinder’s playing.
And in the second hour, we’ll be visited by the ghost of Julee Cruise. Before her death in 2022, the Twin Peaks singer recorded a song with producer Tim Saul for his album, Thresholds. Now that piece has been released as a single with remixes. John Diliberto brings us an echo from Julee Cruise on Echoes from PRX.
