On the next Echoes: Long Tracks. We’ll hear four epic pieces all spanning some 20 minutes each. I listen to this program almost every evening I’m home. I love it. Tonight was the first time I had to change the station. Listening to A Rainbow in curved Air was worse than nails on a chalkboard. Ten times worse. Just a comment from an avid Echoes listener.
I’m listening to it now and kind of laughing. I’m hearing the roots of Tangerine Dream’s Phaedra, Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells, the music of Robert Rich and Steve Roach, Coldplay’s “Clocks”. It’s all rooted in this piece, which is in the DNA of Echoes. But more than all those influences, I am simply in awe and in a state of bliss listening to it. It’s a beautifully orchestrated work that truly journeys to the center of your mind. I’m sorry you didn’t find yourself equally engaged. But thank you so much for being a longtime listener.
I’ve still got my vinyl LP of Terry’s opus. Had it since 1970/1971. Thank you for featuring it, John. I strongly suspect that Pete Townsend (The Who – Baba O’Riley), and the band “Curved Air” would concur. I’ve awaiting “A Rainbow in Curved Air” since 2013’s WXPN “Prog Rock Marathon”, wherein Dan and Biff lamented your absence. Eleven years later: John to the Rescue! 🙂
LOL! Thank you!
🙂 Glad to have brought a bit of good cheer, John. Please do have more of the long tracks programming. I know that I have missed such.
Loved hearing the long tracks. Would like to hear a long track on every show.
The problem with long tracks is I could expose 5 other artists in that same time frame. But we will be doing a monthly Long Tracks beginning in April. Watch for it.
