The California Guitar Trio Live & Grammy Nominees
On the next Echoes, The California Guitar Trio, live. Get ready for some guitar virtuosity and an instrument that isn’t a guitar, even though the guy who plays it is in the California Guitar Trio. As if 18 strings weren’t enough, they’ve replaced one guitarist with Tom Griesgraber who plays the 12 string Chapman Stick, giving them a total of 24 strings. We’ll hear this new configuration of CGT play live, including three new, and thus far unreleased tracks, and a guest appearance by Italian electric guitarist Fabio Mittino. Join us when the California Guitar Trio comes in to play live on Echoes from PRX.
Echoes goes to the Grammys. The Grammy awards are a bit irrelevant to the music we play on Echoes, but every year it’s fun to see what music we play pops up into the greater public consciousness and what popular artists move more toward the sound of Echoes like Taylor Swift who is nominated for six Grammy Awards around her album, Midnights. I can’t remember a time when a record we played was nominated for Album of the Year. Echoes artists slip in several other category including Best Dance/Electronic Album, Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Solo Performance. And of course, there are several Echoes artists in the New Age, Ambient, Chant category. The Grammys are coming this Sunday, and Echoes nominees include Hans Christian and David Darling, Billie Eilish, Bela Fleck, Olafur Arnalds, and Shakti. Get your tux and gowns on for the red carpet walk for Echoes at the Grammys from PRX.
