He presaged the MTV era with “Video Killed the Radio Star” by his group, The Buggles, then put Yes back on the map with “Owner of a Lonely Heart,” and the album, 90125. He. supercharged the New Wave producing Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ABC, Malcolm McLaren and Grace Jones. Then he helped birth the sample-happy electronic project, The Art of Noise. Now he’s revisiting his youth with Echoes-Ancient and Modern..He takes tunes from the 1980s, some of which he produced, and re-imagines them with new musicians including King Crimson’s Robert Fripp and singer Toyah.
