Crowd-Sourced Creativity: Kevin Keller-The Echoes Interview & Echoes of Dune
This weekend on Echoes, Ambient Chamber music composer Kevin Keller took the challenge to record an album in one month. To do it, he enlisted his fans, running a daily blog where he considered their suggestions to create his music. The results were his new album, Shimmer. We talk to Kevin Keller about crowd-sourcing music on Echoes.
“Fear is the mind killer.” That’s one of the signature lines of Frank Herbert‘s Dune. Musicians have been inspired by this novel since it was published in 1965. On the heels of the new Dune movie, Echoes creates an Arrakis soundscape including music from Hans Zimmer’s new score, Jade Warrior’s “Images of Dune” and two tracks from Klaus Schulze including the 30-minute opus, “Dune.” For Schulze, “Dune is like the bible”. Don your stillsuit and ride the sand worms on Echoes of Dune.
