The Best of Echoes 2021, So Far, Nik Bärtsch Live, Jon Hassell Remembered.

You don’t want to miss The Best of Echoes 2021, So Far. As we reach the midway point of the year, we look back at some of the best music from the Echoes soundscape spanning electronic, ambient, dreampop, ambient classical, world fusion and more. Get your pen ready when John Diliberto counts down the The Best of Echoes 2021, So Far.

Nik Bartsch at the piano

Hear a new live performance by Pianist Nik Bärtsch from Switzerland. Bärtsch usually plays minimalist jazz with his band Ronin, but he has a new recording of solo piano, called Entendre, and we’ll hear him playing solo from his home. John Diliberto sits down over the internet with Nik Bärtsch, live on Echoes.

Then we remember Jon Hassell, the brilliant, innovative trumpet player who brought a new sound to the instrument and an entirely new genre of music with his Fourth World Concept. He passed on June 26 at age 84. He collaborated with Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads, David Sylvian and many more while releasing some 20 albums that were like transmissions from a 21st century global village. We’ll hear a feature on Jon and an hour of his music.
