Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles Play Live on Echoes
Get ready for one of those guitarists who has other guitarists dropping their jaws in awe whenever they hear him, Tommy Emmanuel has been lighting up string-pickers’ eyes since sometime in the 1970s, and released his solo debut in 1979. We’ve had Tommy in the Echoes studio a few times before but it’s always been solo. For this performance, he’s joined by John Knowles. He’s a bit lesser-known, but Chet Atkins knew who he was. More important than Knowles’ degree in physics is the degree bestowed upon him as a “Certified Guitar Player,” which only five musicians have, including Tommy Emmanuel. They have a new album together called Heart Songs, a set of pop standards. It’s some nuanced guitar filigree when Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles play live.
