Creating electronic music is often an isolating endeavor. One person, in a room, dialing up the sounds of the universe on their own. But Australia’s Jim Ottaway is probably more isolated than most, living at the borders of the bush in Queensland. But he’s used that isolation to create 25 albums of electronic music since 2004. This year he was nominated for a Zone Music Reporter Award for his 2016 album, Invisible Vortex and while he was in New Orleans for the ceremony, he sat down to talk about electronic music in the bush.
