Special: An Earth Day Meditation with John Luther Adams and Bella Gaia.
Special: An Earth Day Meditation with John Luther Adams and Bella Gaia.
Earth Day takes place on Friday, April 22. In this special edition of Echoes, we explore environmental music including an interview with John Luther Adams and a performance by Kenji Williams’ Bella Gaia. John Luther Adams is the Pulitzer and Grammy award winning composer whose work is always connected to the environment. He talks about his award winning work, Become Ocean and why he left Alaska because the landscapes that inspired him were melting away with Global Warming. Violinist Kenji Williams is also environmentally minded with his Bella Gaia – Beautiful Earth project based on images of earth from space. He comes in with singer and pianist Kristin Hoffmann to create an Earth Day concert.
