Echoes Talks to Ireland's The Gloaming.
The Gloaming is that time between day and night, a twilight world that harbors the Celtic sound of The Gloaming. It’s something of an all-star band with legendary Irish violinist Martin Hayes and Irish singer Iarla O’Lionaird, formerly of Afro Celt Sound System. Their group brings a sound that’s part Keith Jarrett improvisations and part Arvo Part moods to their Irish melodies. It’s been a massive hit throughout Europe and America, the first new take on the Gaelic sound in 20 years. At Big Ears Festival, I gather Martin and Iarla who take us on the journey of The Gloaming. They’ve just released their second album.
