Winterlight Melts Echoes June Top 25

Winterlight’s Hope Dies Last leads Echoes Top 25 for June

The sun is shining and it’s in the 90s in the land of Echoes, but Winterlight didn’t melt under the heat as it leads the Echoes Top 25 this month.   His album, Hope Dies Last was the Echoes CD of the Month for June.  That leads a very eclectic Top 25 this month.  In the Top Ten alone there is solo guitar renditions of 60’s top forty pop tunes, ambient Celtic music, a chamber pop singer-songwriter from Denmark and a chamber group from England, reborn.   Add to that the usual range of acoustic guitar pickers, electronic space explorers and remakes of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and you’ve got some pretty amazing sounds.  Moby got a double shot of exposure with two features in June.  His album, Destroyed, was the Echoes CD of the Month for May.    And let’s give it up for Agnes Obel.  Her Philharmonics is still in the top five, six months after it was named the CD of the Month for January.  (Click the links to read reviews and hear tracks from all those CDs) And see that album at number 2?  Fionnuala Sherry’s Songs from Before will be our Echoes CD of the Month for July.  See the complete Echoes Top 25 for June for your own summer soundtrack.
