AN ECHOES THANKSGIVING WITH
LIVING ROOM CONCERTS FROM
Nicholas Gunn
David Cullen & Jill Haley
Celebrate Thanksgiving this year with Living Room Concerts
of landscape music from Nicholas Gunn and intimate duos with David
Cullen & Jill Haley. It's all on an Echoes Thanksgiving.
Nicholas Gunn is an acclaimed flute player, noted for his musical
tone poems to national landmarks including the Grand Canyon, the
Rocky Mountains and the Smokey Mountains. That leads to albums
with titles like AFTERNOON IN SEDONA, THE GREAT SOUTH WEST, and
THROUGH THE GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAINS (Gemini Sun). Gunn mixes his
flute with exotic hand percussion and synthesizers in dramatic
odes to the wonders of nature.
Then we make room at the Echoes Thanksgiving table for guitarist
David Cullen and oboist Jill Haley. Hailing from Reading, PA,
David plays on the very first track of Windham Hill Records very
first Guitar Sampler recording. Among his solo albums is BLUE
INDIGO (Solid Air). He also appears on Windham Hill's 25 YEARS
OF GUITAR collection. Jill Haley has also recorded on Windham
Hill records with label founder and guitarist Will Ackerman. She's
best known as a charter member of the Philadelphia-area acoustic
fusion trio, One Alternative. Jill and David are husband and wife
with extensive recording careers between them, but they've never
recorded together until this year with their CD, EXPLODING COLORS
(Solid Air). We'll hear them live on An Echoes Thanksgiving, Living
Room Concerts for Thanksgiving.
Friday 11/29/02

and composers from Iran, China, Mongolia and points beyond, Yo-Yo
Ma has created a global chamber orchestra, re-inventing compositions
from the Renaissance and creating new works for the 21st century.
Ma gathers his 10 piece ensemble in the Echoes living room, with
neys, pipas, erhus, frame drums and violin surrounding his cello.
They perform music from their album, SILK ROAD JOURNEYS and several
