JAN GARBAREK'S IMPROVISED CHANTS
Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek recently put out two double
albums, a solo CD called "Rites" and the follow-up to his
acclaimed "Officium" album with the Hilliard Ensemble, called
"Mnemosyne" (ECM). We talk with Garbarek and members of the
Hilliard Ensemble about music of the ages and music of the
moment.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH THE ANGELS OF VENICE
The Angels of Venice are a Southern California group mixing
Middle Eastern percussion, Renaissance melodies, Celtic harps and
classical cello in an evocative, chamber fusion sound. We
venture to the living room of head Angel, Carol Tatum, where the
Angels of Venice ascend to play music from their Windham Hill
debut.

GARY STROUTSOS - LOST MELODIES FROM NATIVE LANDS
Gary Stroutsos used to be a jazz-Afro-Cuban flute player until he
discovered the Native American flute. Now he's one of the few
true virtuosos on that instrument. We talk with Gary about his
flute quest and a new CD called "People of the Willows"
(Makoche). It's based on melodies of the Mandan and Hidatsa
tribes and features Stroutsos's flute along with piano, global
percussion and Native singers Keith Bear and Nellie Youppee. We
talk with Gary Stroutsos and his group about reviving lost
melodies from Native Lands.
