SECRET GARDEN: ROSE-COLORED MUSIC
Secret Garden is Fionualla Sherry, a spritely violinist from
Ireland and Rolf Lovland, a keyboardist and pop music composer
from Norway. Together they weave lush, romantic world view that
combines their Celtic and Nordic heritage with sweet
orchestrations, and sentimental melodies. Fionualla and Rolf sit
down at their piano and violin to talk about a music born in the
Eurovision contests that spawned Abba. (Coming soon: An Echoes
Living Room Concert with Secret Garden).

THE ANGELS OF VENICE DESCEND
From a chamber trio that used to play on Venice Beach in
California the Angels of Venice have released their first album
on the Windham Hill label. Centered by harpist Carol Tatum, the
Angels weave Middle Eastern and Celtic music together in a lush
chamber music sound. We talk with the Angels about their hybrid
music and Carol Tatum's heavy metal roots.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH ONE ALTERNATIVE
The acoustic trio One Alternative bring their acoustic fusion
sound before a small live audience gathered in the living room of
a Southeastern Pennsylvania horse farm. It's the perfect setting
for One Alternative's intimate, chamber like compositions spun on
twin classical guitars and oboe. One Alternative plays music
from their Changes CD (J-Bird) and debuts some new tunes.

JOHN MCLAUGHLIN-SHAKTI'S DEJA VU
Shakti was an all acoustic Indian fusion group put together by
John McLaughlin in the 1970s. Much loved and highly influential,
McLaughlin has reformed the band after 25 years and recorded a
double live CD, "Remember Shakti" (Verve). We talk with
McLaughlin and tabla player Zakir Hussain about Indian
improvisations and universal music.
