Ancient Echoes: Arco Iris
In the late 1980s, a group called Arco Iris put
out a beautiful album of South American fusion called PEACE
PIPES. The group is still around, but that album is long gone.
We excavate Arco Iris' "Peace Pipes" in an Ancient Echoes.

A Living Room Concert With Coyote Oldman
Coyote Oldman transforms the Echoes Living Room into a Native
pipe organ of canyon dimensions. Michael Graham Allen and Barry
Stramp are Coyote Oldman and they play Native American flutes,
Incan pan-pipes and classical bass flute with melodies that ebb,
flow and morph through each other. Stramp adds electronic
effects, creating shadow echoes and subliminal melodies like a
pipe organ blowing across a virtual canyon. Their latest album
is House Made of Dawn (Hearts of Space.)

Pioneers of the Oscillation Zone
Virtually every music you hear today is the result of electronic
music, whether it's a symphony performance with dozens of edits
or the latest space music opus, Britney Spears or Karlheinz
Stockhausen. A new collection called "Ohm: Gurus of Electronic
Music" explores some of their early pioneers of this sound,
including musicians who made their own instruments and the first
turntable scratchers from the 1940s. We'll talk to Ohm compiler
Jason Gross and hear comments from several pioneers, including
John Cage and Brian Eno.

A Living Room Concert with Coyote Oldman
Michael Graham Allen and Barry Stramp, who record as Coyote
Oldman, visit the Echoes Living Room for a rare live performance.
They played all new, improvised material, featuring custom-made
flutes based on Native flutes from throughout the Americas,
processed through complex digital effects. The results are a
mystical sound, like a huge organic pipe organ blowing melodies
across the desert. Coyote Oldman's latest CD is "House Made of
Dawn" on the Hearts of Space Label.
