WILLIAM WATSON'S SOLO PIANO HYMNAL
William Watson grew up the son of 60's Civil Rights activists in
Mississippi. He spent his youth shuttling from one black church
to another, soaking up gospel tunes. Now he turns those tunes
into his own evocative piano solos on two albums, Fields and
Burnham Woods. We visit William Watson in his San Francisco home
where he gives us the gospel.

OTTMAR LIEBERT: IT'S NOUVEAU AGAIN
On his latest album, "Innamorare"(Epic), Nuevo Flamenco guitarist
Ottmar Liebert goes back to the sound that launched his career.
Gone are the moody ambiences of "Opium" and the moody
impressionism of "Leaning Into the Night." Liebert talks about
his happier, more buoyant music, born of marriage, Italy and the
spaces of Sante Fe.

TEN TRENDS FOR TEN YEARS OF ECHOES:
ANCIENT CHANTS, MODERN MUSIC
Chant started out in dank European monasteries at the beginning
of this century, but it's been re-invented at the later half of
this century as musicians have taken chant and re-configured it.
From the dance grooves of Enigma to the global atmospherics of
Richard Souther's Vision, The hymns of ancient Monks are being
transformed in digital monasteries of technology. We'll talk
with many of these Chant Fusionists including Richard Souther,
Sister Germaine Fritz, Vladmir Ivanoff from Vox, and Jocelyn
Montgomery of Lux Vivens.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH SECRET GARDEN
Secret Garden creates an elaborate and lush sound full of
orchestral strings, stacked synthesizers and dynamic rhythms.
But in this living room concert we get to hear where it all
begins, just the core sound of Secret Garden with violinist
Fionnuala Sherry and keyboardist Rolf Lovland. We'll hear them
in an intimate performance, playing music from their three albums
including their latest, "Dawn of a New Century" (Philips).
