TREY ANASTASIO: A PHISH IN CLASSICAL WATERS

Phish is the highly regarded and willfully eclectic jam band from Vermont that has taken on Grateful Dead-like allegiance from their fans. A band that is usually plugged in and often improvising, Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio shows another side to their sound with his solo album, Seis de Mayo (Elektra). Anastasio creates a suite of works scored for chamber orchestra, string quartet, brass band and occasionally, some acoustic guitar. Many of these tunes have been played by Phish, but Anastasio says their roots are in his pre-Phish classical studies. Trey Anastasio talks about swimming in classical waters on Echoes.
