CARL WEINGARTEN: DOBRO DREAMS
Carl Weingarten is a veteran musician on the Alternative scene. He started out in St. Louis doing one man shows of electric guitar and effects ala Robert Fripp of King Crimson while also exploring electric fusion. But when he moved to San Francisco more than a decade ago, he began incorporating world music elements into his sound and moving from electric guitar to acoustic dobro. He's just released a compilation of his work from the last 14 years called Hand in the Sand (Multiphase). Carl Weingarten has been featured on Echoes many times. We go back to a 1995 in the period of transition for his music.
