Friday, Dec 4, 2020 – Echoes Program 2048E

On a Slow Flow Echoes, pianist Peter Kater goes Hawaiian, but it’s not a luau album. On Hawaii he taps traditional music and musicians of the island state and creates a lush landscape around them. We’ll also hear new music by the electronic artist Kayobe from his album, Island to Bridges. We build musical bridges on Echoes.

Tuesday, Dec 8, 2020 – Echoes Program 2049B

Ambient chamber music composer Kevin Keller had a scare last year when he went in for heart surgery. It made him contemplate life and what happens when they stop your heart.

Kevin Keller: “I guess I asked myself the question like well where does one go when that happens? Do you go somewhere? Are you aware that your heart is not beating? Do you know somehow, somewhere in your consciousness? And so this album grew out of that question of where do you go when you’re on the edge of death?”

That contemplation turned into his haunting, beautiful album, The Front Porch of Heaven.  Sit on a rocking chair with Kevin Keller and hear life pass before your ears on Echoes from PRX.

It’s the fourth Icon of Echoes: Dead Can Dance. This duo of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry have created some of the most transcendent, time-shifting music of the late 20th century. Thursday, Dec 10, 2020 – Echoes Program 2049D

The chamber pop duo of Gracie and Rachel have returned with a new album of melodically gorgeous songs called Hello Weakness, You Make Me Strong. In the midst of the pandemic, they talk about influences from classical to hip-hop, and music that is uplifting but also responding to the world around us. They dress in opposites, black and white, but we get into the shadows with Gracie and Rachel.

Harold Budd at Piano with Relfection
