SONIC SEASONINGS 2004
LIVING ROOM CONCERTS FOR CHRISTMAS WITH:
JEFF JOHNSON & BRIAN DUNNING,
SAVAE,
BANSHEE IN THE KITCHEN
THE MINISTRY OF INSIDE THINGS
This year, Echoes creates a winter world of seasonal music from
ancient Aramaic hymns to the story of Genesis from Apollo 8 with
living room concerts from Malibu to Philadelphia. This year,
Sonic Seasonings features Jeff Johnson & Brian Dunning weaving
their Celtic inflected Christmas fantasies in a church in Malibu.
SAVAE is a seven voice choir intoning hymns as sung in the Nahuatl
language of the Aztecs and the Aramaic language from the time
of Jesus Christ. Banshee in the Kitchen are three women immersed
in a Celtic sound. In their living room in Bakersfield, California,
they play carols, pagan hymns and a Hanukkah song in a chamber
folk style. The Ministry of Inside Things creates an electronic
landscape for winter, sculpting deep chilled designs and evoking
the memory of Apollo 8, which circled the moon on a Christmas
Eve nearly four decades ago
