It's been a great year for music with the return of some old favorites and a wave of new artists and collaborations. Listeners have voted, and on this program we'll hear their 25 favorite CDs of the past year. An early perusal reveals likely winners to be a world fusion Celtic maiden, a couple of electro-ambient duos and even some ambient Americana. It's not decided yet, but it will be by the time you hear the 2007 Echoes listener Poll.

In his southern California studio, Isham hears tracks that have shaped his music, and sounds that he has shaped over the course of a four-decade music career.

Three virtuosos, one name
DeMania is an acronym for the three musicians in the band, finger style virtuoso Alex De Grassi, electric bass demon Michael Manring and tabla player Chris Garcia. On their own, each musician can create an ensemble of sound. Together, they play a world fusion that harkens back to John McLaughlin's Shakti. We talk to them about their eclectic approach to improvised world fusion.

Guitarist Andy McKee had been plying his passion for many years He dropped out of high school to concentrate on guitar and had recorded a couple of solo albums in a style that recalled Michael Hedges. But when he put up a video of himself on YouTube, his world changed. With 7 million hits and counting, Andy McKee has lifted himself to the top of the finger-style guitar mountain. He talks about his music and accidental success.
