AN INTERVIEW WITH LIGHTS OUT ASIA
Post-rock ambience ignites Milwaukee
They aren't from Asia, but this Milwaukee trio is making an exotic brand of post-rock music merged with ambient aesthetics.
They layer guitars, keyboards, drums and electronics in cinematic landscapes that have a heroic sound despite some foreboding titles like "Radars Over the Ghosts of Chernobyl." We talk to these architects of ambient rock about roots that go from shoegazer rock to New Age music.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH ALU
Cosmic cabaret in the Echoes Living Room
Alu exists in a world of psychological symbology and musical playfulness. Based in Los Angeles, her second album, Lobotomy Sessions, contains songs of lost innocence, cultural ennui and interior dialogues, all couched in music that mixes carnivals and cabaret. Alu brings her music to Echoes live, singing about circus cosmos, martian rendezvouses and buzzin' brains. It's a rare and electrifying performance from this entrancing songstress when she plays live, on Echoes.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH FERNWOOD ON AN ECHOES THANKSGIVING
Enliven your Thanksgiving feast with a soundscape from Echoes
Centering our Thanksgiving meal on Echoes this year is a living room concert with Fernwood. They're a Los Angeles-based band creating a World Music Americana, mixing bouzouki with banjo, mandolin with oud and sitar with guitar. They released their critically acclaimed debut album, Almeria earlier this year. Guitar Player Magazine called it "Wonderfully melodic, expertly layered, masterfully interwoven, luscious yet rootsy.” Fernwood is the main course in a two-hour feast of music for Thanksgiving.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH RONN MCFARLANE
Renaissance lutenist enters the 21st century
Ronn McFarlane can play Renaissance lute with the best of them, but when he's not plucking sounds by anonymous troubadours, he writes his own music and that's much more contemporary. Ronn McFarlane steps into the Echoes living room to play his modern music for lute, live.
