CAROL TATUM-AN ANGEL ALONE Carol Tatum wears the squadron leader's wings in the ANGELS
OF VENICE, the southern California, global chamber music ensemble.
Recently, she took a solo flight, recording MUSIC FOR HARP (Trine)
with just herself on Celtic harp and lush synthesizer arrangements.
It's another side to Tatum, highlighting her Early Music influences
as well as nodding to her days as a heavy metal guitarist. She
turns Metallica's NOTHING ELSE MATTERS into a pastoral reverie.
In her San Fernando Valley home, Carol Tatum talks about her solo
flight.

LISA GERRARD & DEAD CAN DANCE Ecstatic vocals have been a major part of Echoes for the last
15 years, and no one has brought us more ecstacy than Lisa Gerrard
and Dead Can Dance. Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry filtered sounds
and spirits from the antiquity and merged them into a ritualistic
music. They sound like they could've emerged from the crossroads
of the Crusades, but with the help of modern technology. Lisa
Gerrard's immaculate voice intones words of a language of the
imagination while Perry surrounds her with atmospheres and rhythms
that propel the music forward. Dead Can Dance recently broke up,
but Gerrard has already established a solo career that will take
her into the future with Echoes.
Wednesday, 11/21/01
BRIAN GORE: FINGER-STYLE CRUSADER Brian Gore is from a third generation of finger-style guitarists
influenced by the "grandfathers" Leo Kottke and John
Fahey and the "fathers," Will Ackerman and Alex de Grassi.
He's a solo guitar proselytizer who stages International Guitar
Night performances with the leading exponents of finger-style
guitar. Brian Gore talks about his acoustic guitar crusade, his
guitar playing family, and his own music, heard on the recent
album, LEGACY (Acoustic Music).

AN ECHOES THANKSGIVING WITH
LIVING ROOM CONCERTS FROM
Maggie Sansone and Friends
David Cullen & Michael Manring
Celebrate Thanksgiving this year with Living Room Concerts
of Celtic chamber folk music from Maggie Sansone and intimate
duets, trios and solos with David Cullen, Michael Manring and
Jill Haley. It's all on an Echoes Thanksgiving.
Maggie Sansone is a hammered dulcimer player from Maryland
who has been recording a unique brand of Celtic chamber music,
mixing traditional songs and original compositions. Her albums
include A Traveler's Dream and Celtic Meditations (Maggie's Music).
Maggie takes a seat in the Echoes living room with a chamber consort
that includes guitarist Paul oorts & Hammered dulcimer and
whistle player Karen Ashbrook of Celtic Café (Maggies Music)
winds and cello.
Then we make room at the Echoes Thanksgiving Table
for guitarist David Cullen and bassist Michael Manring. Hailing
from Reading, Pennsylvania, guitarist David has several recordings,
including his most recent, Blue Indigo (Solid Air). He also appears
on Windham Hill's "25 Years of Guitar" collection. From
Oakland, California, Michael Manring was the house bassist for
Windham Hill Records and has several solo recordings on the label.
David and Michael recently released their collaboration, Equilibre
(Solid Air). They'll play solos, duos and a trio with One Alternative
oboist and David's wife, Jill Haley.
Along with the turkey, gravy and cranberries, serve
up some evocative new music for your holiday table with an Echoes
Thanksgiving.
