BRIAN ENO'S CYBER-NOIR SOUNDTRACKS Brian Eno has a curious double-image. His most popular work
is done under the auspices of other artist's through his productions
of Talking Heads, David Bowie, and U2, including the Irish band's
latest CD. But the other side of Eno is heard on his solo albums
as sonic provocateur. He codified the concept of ambient music
in the 1970s, embraced a grunge electronic aesthetic in the early
1990s and now seeks the holy grail of generative music, essentially,
music that composes itself. But his latest CD, DRAWN FROM LIFE
(Astralwerks) finds Eno playing live, along with German electronic
composer, J. Peter Schwalm. Many are calling it his most accessible
album in years. From Eno's studio in London and Schwalm's in Frankfurt,
two electronic artists talk of a music born in improvisation.

DWELLER AT THE THRESHOLD ANSWERS A KNOCK ON THE DOOR Sometimes trends skip a generation, and that's the case with
the Space music sounds created by Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze
and Jean-Michel Jarre in the 1970s. It took nearly two decades
for their musical children to be born. Among them are a Portland,
Oregon trio called Dweller at the Threshold. This syntheszier
trio creates ambient spacescapes mixing old- style analog synthesziers
with newer digital versions. Dweller recently released the album,
OUROBORUS (Hypnos) while Dweller member Paul Ellis just put out
his second CD, INTO THE LIQUID UNKNOWN (Hypnos) We talk to the
Dwellers about music born in electronics and launched into space.

EPIPHANY PROJECT John Hodian says his primary musical influences are Steve
Reich, Keith Jarrett and Joni Mitchel. So it's no surprise that
Minimalism, jazz piano and singer-songwriter lyricism are all
evident on EPIPHANY PROJECT, his collaboration with Bet Williams.
Hodian is an accomplished pianist and composer based in Woodstock,
New York, working in theater and documentary scoring. Williams
is a singer-songwriter. They talk about the combining these two
disparate worlds into the cyclical, atmospheric soundscapes of
their new CD.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH WAVE WORLD Wave World is an imaginary location populated by plant like
beings spewing pods and riding the breeze. It's also a Dutch synthesizer
group who makes music for this world and the computer generated
videos that accompany them. Playing synthesizers, electronic wind
instruments and a Theremin, Wave World touch down on music from
their albums including Structures (Quantum) playing live in the
Echoes Living room.
