A LIVINGROOM CONCERT WITH BAKA BEYOND
Baka Beyond has been creating a musical roadway between the British Isles and West Africa since their 1993 debut, SPIRIT OF THE FOREST(Hannibal). The band fuses pygmy chants, songs, rhythms and melodies with Celtic songs, instruments, rhythms and melodies in an often magical and infectious brew. They've just released a new CD called RHYTHM TREE (March Hare Music) and will be touring the states in September. Baka Beyond came to Echoes and brought some spirit of the forest to the Echoes Living Room when they play live.

RICHARD BONE: THE UNITED STATES OF ELECTRO-LOUNGE
Richard Bone has a deeper music history than most ambient and electro-lounge artists. He grew up in the 1960s, ingesting psychedelic groups like The United States of America. In the 1980s he became a new wave artist, but by the 90s, he'd discovered jazz and bossa nova and began incorporating them into a personal electronic sound. His latest album, SAIYUJI (Quirkworks), continues his explorations into ethno-electro-exotica. In his Rhode Island home, Richard Bone talks about his electronic awakening and the music he creates.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH RYAN FARISH
Ryan Farrish is a multi-instrumentalist whose two solo albums, BEAUTIFUL and FROM THE SKY (Neurodisc) traverse a lush, romantic world of electronica music. So we were caught by surprise when we visited his Los Angeles home, crammed with electronic gear, and were treated to an acoustic version of his music. Joined by a trio of musicians and playing acoustic piano and guitar, Farish reveals a different side to his music in this intimate performance.
Friday 11/4/05
AINE MINOGUE: MEDITATIONS AND LAMENTATIONS
Irish harpist and singer Aine Minogue is a scholar of fairytales, myths and legends from the Emerald Isle, but her music is anything but academic. She mixes her Celtic harp and fragile soprano voice in songs heavy with atmosphere and mood. On her latest CD, CELTIC LAMENTATIONS,(Sounds True) she explores the Irish keening, a special kind of lament. Aine Minogue talks about CELTIC LAMENTATIONS and MEDITATIONS.
