CHRIS BLACKWELL'S VEDIC PATH & WORLD VOICES
Famed producer Chris Blackwell, the man who created Island Records and launched the careers of Bob Marley and U2, mounts World Voices with VEDIC PATH (Palm Pictures), a mystic visual and musical journey into an India of the imagination. VEDIC PATH is a celebration of Indian spirit, music and culture, but don't expect a CD of mantra chants and droning tambouras. Instead, VEDIC PATH offers an impressionistic journey through an India that's been globalized and re-imagined. We talk with Blackwell and VEDIC PATH compiler Bruno Guez about their imaginary India.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH ANDREAS VOLLENWEIDER
Swiss harpist Andreas Vollenweider is certainly an icon of modern music. He has a new CD called VOX (Kinkou) on which he sings English lyrics for the first time. But when he comes into the Echoes living room, he leaves the songs outside and instead improvises on Celtic harp and Japanese koto. Performing live with percussionist Andi Pupato, Vollenweider spins out three enchanting songs that reveal his mastery of melody and just about anything with strings.

TOM ROSSI: KORA MEDITATIONS
Tom Rossi went to Africa with the Peace Corp. He not only came back with good feelings, but a music vision that he's been unveiling for the last few years. Rossi started as a guitarist, but now he's as likely to pluck the African gourd harp called the kora or plunk out notes on an African thumb piano called the kalimba. Rossi creates a global chamber music with chanting voices in a dialect of his imagination on his album, SALMA HAR (Anja Music).
