A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH ARYEH FRANKFURTER We travel to the San Francisco basement studio of Aryeh Frankfurter
where he plays Nordic music for Celtic harp live on Echoes. Aryeh
Frankfurter is a multi-instrumentalist based in San Francisco
who can whip off world jazz fusion solos on violin or pluck the
most delicate melody on Celtic harp. On his latest album, AURORA
OF THE NORTHERN HARP (Lion Harp), he adapts music for Swedish
Cow horn and clogged fiddle to his Celtic strings. We hear him
do it live.
Wednesday 09/29/04
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH BANSHEE IN THE KITCHEN Banshee in the Kitchen is a California trio whose hearts reside
in Ireland. Brenda Hunter, Mary Tulin and Jill Eglund make up
the Banshees, playing hammered dulcimer & fiddle, guitar &
bouzouki, and flute & accordion respectively. In the flatlands
of Bakersfield, they've forged an evocative Celtic sound that
merges folk, classical and world music elements heard on their
latest CD, CATCHING THE MOONCOIN. We catch Banshee in the Kitchen
in Mary Tulin's living room, where they create their own brand
of Celtic enchantment.

FRITZ HEEDE & JOHN BANKS: ILLUMINATED PSYCHEDELIA Animated DVDs usually have pedestrian images or derivative,
canned music, but Fritz Heede and John Banks' DVD, ILLUMINATED
MANUSCRIPTS, defies that precedent. The disc is full of surreal,
images that morph and flow one into the other creating a world
of fantasy and light where doors open into glistening vistas and
chairs are swallowed by vines. Fritz Heede's music follows suit
with a delirious, eastern-inspired swirl of propulsive hand drum
rhythms, ambient moods and melodies that spin like a dervish refracted
in time. We create a sonic journey into the surreal world of
Illuminated Manuscripts with Fritz Heede and John Banks.
Friday 10/01/04
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH PEPPINO D'AGOSTINO Peppino D'Agostino is a virtuoso finger-style guitarist.
He was born and raised in Torino, Italy where he played Italian
bluegrass, but he's been in America for two decades, honing his
reputation as a sensitive stylist and detailed composer. He recently
re-recorded some of his best-loved pieces on the album, EVERY
STEP OF THE WAY (Favored Nations Acoustic). For the first time
since 2001, Peppino D'Agostino comes to the Echoes Living Room,
to play his music live.
