FEATURES FOR THE WEEK

Tuesday 09/24/02
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH TINH
Vietnamese guitarist Tinh plays live in the Echoes living room. Originally a classical player, Tinh was converted to the steel-string side when the legendary John Fahey produced his debut album MY VIETNAMESE SUITE (East Wind Records). His new CD, ACOUSTIC RAIN (East Wind), was produced by another legendary music figure, pianist George Winston. Although he was born in Vietnam and as a child fled the country days before the fall of Saigon. Tinh has developed a style of acoustic guitar playing that speaks more of Americana than Asia. Tinh travels from his home in Oregon to play in the Echoes living room.

Thursday 09/26/02
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH WAVE WORLD
Wave World is an imaginary location populated by plant like beings spewing pods and riding the breeze. It's also a Dutch synthesizer group who makes music for this world and the computer generated videos that accompany them. Playing synthesizers, electronic wind instruments and a Theremin, Wave World touch down on music from their albums including Structures (Quantum) playing live in the Echoes Living room.

Friday 09/27/02
ECHOES ROCKS
Once again, Echoes kicks out the jams, but in an Echoes kind of way. We'll be hearing an ambient vocal track from former Roxy Music frontman, Bryan Ferry and an ambient soundtrack from Peter Gabriel. The music of Joni Mitchell will be heard on solo piano and the music of Tool played by a string quartet. Craig Armstrong transforms King Crimson into an ambient orchestration and punk guitarist Tom Verlaine plays with Kronos Quartet. It's a different kind of rock, on Echoes.
