AN INTERVIEW WITH RENA JONES
The diva of ambient cello
There's a lot of looping, electronic cellists out there, but Rena Jones is one of the few who is also orchestrating her own electronica backings, creating moiré patterns of rhythms, glitches and ambient moods. Her previous album, Driftwood, was an Echoes favorite and her latest, Indra's Web, follows suit. We get tangled up with Rena Jones.

ECHOES THEN AND NOW: MARK DWANE
Mark Dwane typifies many of the musicians you hear on Echoes. He creates alone, in his home studio. His compositions are born as much from technology as musicianship and he never plays live because his music is, indeed, a studio construct. Since his debut album, The Monuments of Mars, Mark Dwane has been a fixture on Echoes, creating heroic spacescapes with his guitar synthesizer. We travel into space when we hear Mark Dwane, Then and Now

AN INTERVIEW WITH BILL FRISELL
A different kind of Americana
Bill Frisell is not only one of the best guitarists of our age, but one of the most conceptual. Since his 1983 debut on ECM, he's charted a singular course, mixing country ambience and electronic distortion, weaving together music from Aaron Copland to Madonna, plus his own originals. He is a guitarist's guitarist, a musician's musician and he talks with us about his music, on Echoes.
